Class Description: Beyond Technique: Finding Your Voice in Miniature Painting
A 3-Day Masterclass with Francesco Farabi (aka Franciuus)
What truly separates a technically skilled painter from an artist with a recognizable voice?
Is it talent—or is it something that can be understood, trained, and built?
In this 3-day masterclass, Francesco Farabi (aka Franciuus) will guide you through the process that shaped his own artistic journey: moving beyond isolated techniques and learning how to use theory, structure, and intention to develop a personal style.
This is not a class about tricks or shortcuts.
It is about understanding why things work, and how to apply that knowledge consistently in your painting. A balance between theory and practice. The class is built as a continuous exchange between understanding and doing.
In the first part, we will explore key concepts such as color theory, composition, light, and visual storytelling. In the second part, you will apply these concepts step by step on a provided miniature, translating ideas into controlled, repeatable actions.
The goal is not just to complete a piece—but to give you a method you can reuse in your future work. A personalized approach. Each painter is different.
During the class, Francesco will work closely with each participant to identify the technical key that can unlock their next level. Rather than asking you to copy a specific style or replicate a fixed result, the focus will be on understanding how you naturally paint, and how to strengthen and refine that process.
The aim is not to impose a method, but to enter your flow, adapt the tools to your way of working, and help you build something that is truly yours.
What you will learn:
- How to understand and apply color theory in a practical way
- How to build contrast, readability, and focus through composition
- How to use brushwork and texture to define materials and surfaces
- How to make intentional decisions instead of random ones
- How to recognize when a piece is truly “finished”
- How to connect technique and theory into a coherent artistic voice
Finding your voice. Technique is only the starting point. Your voice as a painter emerges when you begin to make conscious choices—when color, light, texture, and composition are no longer separate elements, but part of a unified vision.
Throughout the class, Francesco will share not only methods and tools, but also the mindset that allows you to move from execution to expression.
What makes this class different With over 20 years of experience as a painter, teacher, and international judge, Francesco has observed thousands of miniatures across all levels. The difference between “good” and “exceptional” work is rarely about complexity.
It is about clarity, control, and intention.
This class is designed to help you build exactly that—in your own way.
